Karta Yatra, Videos 8 Comments

This is a series of 7 short films by Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik, the Chief Belief Officer of Future Group, where he speaks at length about the role and responsibilities of a Store ‘Karta’ or a Store Manager. Here is the first film, which delves into the Indian Shastras and connects this with measurable business.

Interesting liked the way you explained in 2X2 Matrix.

I question to you, when terrorist attacked the Taj hotel many employees of taj hotel gave their life to protect the guest/customer of taj hotel so what has happened to those employee their belief was so great than their life (Like army soldier who are ready to give their life for the country). where do they fit in your 2X2 matrix.

  • Devdutt,

You comfortably declared people who are not subscribed to your subjective values (Future Group values) as Ravan & Duryodhan. So in an organization such as Fanny & Freddy May, the honest man who doesn’t want to screw a grandma off her retirement money becomes the Ravan & Duryodhan.

The point I am trying to make is that
Organizational values are just as subjective as its employees’. Therefore, to take subjective values & create an objective scale to then measure the subjective behavior of employees to classify them as Ravan or Ram is rather unfortunate. This is nothing but the age old “performance review” with some subjectivity thrown into it.

Please don’t misunderstand my comments as combative. I immensely appreciate your work and I agree with some of your perspectives while disagree with some others.

    Thanks,
    Sujith

My subjective values = Future Group Values….??? !!!!..LOL

Sorry… my bad. I was talking with respect to this video only and hence, I wanted to mean “Future Group Values”. I said your values in the sense that as the CBO, the values you create for the organization.

On a separate note, I emailed one of your Business Sutra episode (on measurement) to my colleagues (actually, to many of the managers. I am an engineer). Thank you for all the great work you do.
